I really must refute the hysterical claims of the Librarian regarding my departments so called failure. If she will take time to read minute 27b subsection 3 para iv of the Energy Efficiency Working Group of the Environmental Sub-committee of the Estates Management Committee, she will see that it is now university policy to connect new power points to the mains power supply ONLY WHEN SPECIFICALLY REQUESTED. The survey by our management consultants clearly demonstrated that most wall sockets are unused for most of each day and new power points are almost invariably an extravagance required by over-funded departments. The Library was supplied with exactly what it requested - 7 new power points.
