Directions to the Missenden Centre by Road

Road instructions

M40 - Jct 4 (8 miles to Great Missenden)

Turn off for High Wycombe. At the bottom of the hill follow the A4128 going over the flyover for Great Missenden, passing through the Hughenden Valley. Cryers Hill, Great Kingshill and Prestwood (approximately 5 miles). After Prestwood at the bottom of the hill enter Great Missenden. Turn right across 2 mini roundabouts going along the High Street through the traffic calming system. The Abbey will be found on the left just past Church street and the fire station.

From the West M4 - Jct 8/9 (18 miles to Great Missenden)

Take the A404 to High Wycombe at the M40/Handy Cross roundabout:- then follow the above.

From London South and M25 Jct clockwise M40 - Jct 12 (12 miles from Jct 2 on M40 to Great Missenden)

Turn off for Beaconsfield (Jct 2) and follow directions to Amersham A355 (Approx. 5 miles). At the bottom of the hill (with Tescos straight ahead) turn left at the roundabout and then turn right at the next roundabout signposted for Great Missenden and Aylesbury on the A413. 4 miles on (passing under the a railway bridge) fork left at signpost for Great and Little Kingshill just before Chiltern Hospital. The Abbey is 1/2 mile along on the right hand side.

From London avoiding M25/M40 (35 miles from London to Great Missenden)

From A40, Western Avenue, Uxbridge or Denham roundabout take the A40 marked Rickmansworth, Gerrards cross. Go straight over traffic lights and up hill for about a mile. Fork right at traffic lights Amersham and A413 (about 11 miles from Great Missenden). 4 miles after Amersham go under railway bridge and fork left at signpost for Great and Little Kingshill just before "Chiltern Hospital". The Abbey is 1/2 mile along the road on right.

From North West A41 to Aylesbury (10 miles from Aylesbury to Great Missenden)

Take the A413 to Great Missenden going through Wendover. After 4 miles take right fork to Great Missenden keeping straight over 2 mini roundabouts. Go along High Street via traffic calming system and the Abbey is on the left past Church Street and the fire station.

From North M1/A1 M25 - Jct 18 anticlockwise (14 miles from Jct 18 on M25)

Turn off for Amersham A404 and follow the road for 5 miles through Chorleywood and Little Chalfont passing under the railway bridge. Continue for approximately 2 miles to the roundabout, go straight down the hill (do NOT turn right under railway bridge). At the bottom of hill go straight over at roundabout to Great Missenden/Aylesbury (A413) for 4 miles and after passing under the railway bridge fork left at signpost for Great and Little Kingshill just before Chiltern Hospital. The Abbey is 1/2 mile along on the right hand side.

From M1 - Jct 8 via Chesham (15 miles to Great Missenden)

Come off at Jct 8 taking Hemel Hempstead. In Hemel take the signs for Boxhill at the famous magic both ways roundabout (ignore Chesham sign). There might also be signs for Bovenden and railway station. After railway station take 2nd left at traffic lights to Chesham (B4505). In Chesham take the Amersham and then Great Missenden signs (B485). Once in the village take the left turn at the mini roundabout in Great Missenden going along High Street via traffic calming system. The Abbey is on the left past Church Street and the fire station.
